RentalsGraph Certification
How the assessment works
What we check, where the evidence comes from, how the score and the rating are calculated, how often they are renewed and how a business can correct an error.
Three different things
- Business access
- Confirms that a person may manage a business profile. It does not check the business and is not a certification.
- Verified business facts
- Individual facts (for example a phone number or a rental terms page) that RentalsGraph found independently. A fact the business only typed in is shown as "Provided by the business" until it is checked; a value the business changes is checked again.
- Certification
- A paid programme: the business is assessed against the criteria below, reassessed every month, and receives a public profile and a website badge. Paying activates the assessment; it does not buy a rating.
What is checked
| Area | Check | Weight | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business identity | Official website on record | 1.5 | Company record, website check |
| Business identity | Legal company name | 1 | Supplied by the business, found on its website |
| Business identity | Public phone number | 1 | Crawled contact data |
| Business identity | VAT number | 1 | Supplied by the business, found on its website |
| Business identity | Registration number | 1 | Supplied by the business; assessed when it can be checked |
| Business identity | Public email | 0.5 | Company contact records |
| Business identity | Country of the business | 0.5 | Company record |
| Online visibility | Website reachable | 1 | Website analysis |
| Online visibility | Public social channels | 0.5 | Website analysis |
| Rental terms | Rental terms published before booking | 1 | Website terms extraction or a verified terms page |
| Direct booking | Customers can book on the company's own website | 1 | Website analysis |
| Price signals | Price position measured in the market | 1 | Market price observations |
| Price signals | Price stability measured | 1 | Market price observations |
The assessment covers how clearly and verifiably a business publishes key information. It does not assess vehicles, service quality, safety, prices charged to customers or legal compliance, and it is not a review score.
How the score and the rating are calculated
- Overall score (0-100) = weight of the checks the business meets / weight of the checks that could be assessed x 100. A check that cannot be assessed yet is left out; it is not counted as failed.
- Base rating (1-5): the score is placed in fixed bands - below 40: 1.x, 40-55: 2.x, 55-70: 3.x, 70-85: 4.x, 85 and above: 5.0 - and interpolated inside the band to one decimal.
- Customer-rating lead: when the business's public customer rating leads the median of comparable businesses in its market, up to +0.5 is added (at least 30 ratings and at least 3 comparable businesses are required). It never lowers the rating.
- Certification rating = base rating + customer-rating lead, at most 5.0.
- Publication: the rating is shown on the public profile and the badge from 4.0/5. Below that, the certified mark stays and the exact rating is shown only to the business in its workspace.
How often, and how errors are corrected
- Every business with an active Certification is fully reassessed once a month.
- When a business changes a fact in its workspace, that fact is checked straight away and the rating is recalculated.
- A check that cannot be completed (for example the website does not answer) is shown as "Could not check" and is not a finding against the business.
- To report an error, write to support@rentalsgraph.com with the business name and the fact concerned.
